Abstract:
To provide a production method of porous glass fine particles that suppresses generation of defects at an interface between a soot layer and a starting base material while keeping production efficiency.SOLUTION: A production method of porous glass fine particles includes a first layer formation step for forming a first soot layer on the surface of a starting base material 1 and an outer layer formation step for forming a plurality of soot layers on the outside of the first soot layer. In the first layer formation step, the first soot layer is formed without blanks in the longer direction. In the outer layer formation step, a group of burners 2 is reciprocated in the longer direction of the starting base material 1 while a raw material gas is supplied to each burner 2a-2d of the group of burners 2 to form the soot layers.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
