Abstract:
To provide an antenna system balancing narrow beam and beam steering, without switching an antenna, radiating electromagnetic wave, according to the radiation direction.SOLUTION: A phased array antenna system comprises a flat surface phased array antenna including multiple antenna elements radiating electromagnetic wave in the same plane, and including a ground conductor plate reflecting the electromagnetic wave in a plane parallel with the same plane, at a position where the distance to the same plane is short enough to be ignored compared with the wavelength of the electromagnetic wave in the free space, a flat surface phased array antenna including a plate, and a dielectric plate of flat dielectric in parallel with the same plane, and located in the road side direction of the antenna element. Thickness of the dielectric plate is substantially equal to a quarter of the electromagnetic wave in the material of the dielectric, and the distance between the face of the dielectric plate opposing the antenna element and the face including the antenna element is substantially equal to 1/2 of the wavelength of the electromagnetic wave in the free space.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
