Abstract:
To actualize smooth changeover between all-cylinder operation and cylinder cut-off operation while suppressing a deterioration in emission performance.SOLUTION: An engine 1 including an air regulation part 43, a spark plug 25, and a fuel injection valve 6 starts compression ignition combustion with the ignition of air-fuel mixture formed in a combustion chamber 17. A cylinder number control part 10a is provided for changing over between the all-cylinder operation and the cylinder cut-off operation when the compression ignition combustion at a predetermined lean air-fuel ratio is under way. The cylinder number control part 10a executes preparation control for changing over to the cylinder cut-off operation. The preparation control includes air increase processing, fuel increase processing, and retard processing. In the state of a predetermined air-fuel ratio, the cylinder cut-off operation is started.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 19
