Abstract:
To provide an image processing apparatus capable of effectively obtaining an object region on an image which corresponds to a virtual viewpoint for obtaining a billboard in generating a free viewpoint image at a high speed on a billboard basis.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises: a point group generation part 1 which obtains, from a multi-viewpoint image, object point group data on the basis of viewpoint positions of respective images and a point on a border between a foreground and a background; a fractionation part 2 which clusters the point group data into point group data by individual objects; a neighbor acquisition part 3 which acquires neighbouring points of respective points of the point group data by the individual objects; a reverse projection part 4 which reversely projects the point group data by the individual objects on an image plane at a specified virtual viewpoint; and an extraction part 5 which defines the acquired neighbouring points the respective points as neighbouring points that respective points on the image plane connect with so as to extract regions of individual objects on the image plane as regions defined with relation of the connections.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
