Abstract:
To provide a polycarbonate diol for use as a raw material for polyurethane excellent in a balance of physical properties of flexibility, chemical resistance, low-temperature characteristics, heat resistance and elastic recovery property and to provide a method for producing the polycarbonate diol.SOLUTION: The polycarbonate diol has a hydroxyl value of 20 mg-KOH/g to 42 mg-KOH/g as measured by a method using an acetylating reagent in accordance with JIS K1557-1(2007) in which the glass transition temperature of the polycarbonate diol as measured by a differential scanning calorimeter is -35°C or less; the ratio of a weight average molecular weight in terms of polystyrene of the polycarbonate diol to a number average molecular weight in terms of polystyrene thereof each as measured by gel permeation chromatography is 1.5 to 3.0; and the average carbon number of a dihydroxy compound produced by subjecting the polycarbonate diol to hydrolysis is 3.2 to 5.5 and the dihydroxy compound includes at least one kind selected from the group consisting of 1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol and 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol.SELECTED DRAWING: None
