Abstract:
To suppress a deterioration of precious metal by suppressing the local heat generation of the precious metal.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine 1 includes an exhaust emission control catalyst 20 supporting precious metal and capable of storing oxygen, and a control device 31 for controlling a fuel supply amount to a combustion chamber 10. When predetermined fuel cut executing conditions are established, the control device executes fuel supply control to temporarily supply fuel to the combustion chamber so that the air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas flowing into the exhaust emission control catalyst becomes a rich air-fuel ratio richer than a theoretical air-fuel ratio, and then starts fuel cut control to stop the supply of the fuel to the combustion chamber in the state that the internal combustion engine operates.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
