Abstract:
To provide a horizontal member vertical drive device capable of driving a horizontal member vertically via a comparatively simple mechanism, and a machine tool including the same.SOLUTION: A machine tool includes: a numerical control (NC) unit; a bed; a pair of columns erected on both sides of the bed, respectively; a horizontal member installed across the pair of columns; a spindle head having a tool attached to a tip end of a spindle and supported slidably by the horizontal member; a pair of ball screws that is arranged in both end sides of the horizontal member and supports vertical movement of the horizontal member; and a pair of servo motors that are directly connected to the ball screws and transmit drive force. The horizontal member is driven vertically while being held horizontally by positioning control of each of the servo motors.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
