Abstract:
To provide a method of inhibiting formation of a functional MCM complex from MCM subunits in normal and cancerous cells, and a method of screening for an anticancer compound.SOLUTION: The invention provides the use of a compound which is capable of inhibiting formation of a functional MCM complex from MCM subunits in cancerous cells, for producing drugs for treating cervical, nasopharyngeal or liver cancer, where the compound is selected from the group consisting of 17beta-Deacetyltanghinin, 17beta-Neriifolin and 17beta-Deacetyltanghinin diol. A method of screening for an anticancer compound comprises steps: (a) contacting a candidate compound with a population of cells for a certain period of time and (b) determining the amount of a functional MCM complex formed from its subunits in the cells.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
