Abstract:
To provide a displacement detector with which it is possible to detect a displacement amount stably with high accuracy.SOLUTION: For a polarization retaining fiber that conveys light from a light source to a displacement detector, a length not including the same length as the one derived by dividing the product of the integral multiple of a length equal to twice a resonator length multiplied by the refractive index of the resonator and the beat length obtained from a difference in propagation constant between two polarization modes by the wavelength of the light source is selected from within a range that includes said same length. The polarization retaining fiber is composed of multiple lengths mated by a removable connector, and when there exist a plurality of mating parts, the total length of the polarization retaining fibers in every possible combination of the last polarization retaining fiber and the rest of polarization retaining fibers is avoided, as the order of connection of polarization retaining fibers, to become same as the length derived by dividing the product of the integral multiple of length equal to twice the resonator length multiplied by the refractive index of the resonator and the beat length obtained from a difference in propagation constant between X, Y polarization modes of the polarization retaining fibers by the wavelength of the light source.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
