Abstract:
To provide methods for predicting the onset of extrapyramidal symptoms (EPSs) induced by an antipsychotic-based treatment, and methods for providing personalized medicine to patients based on the sequence of several SNPs associated with the onset of the EPSs.SOLUTION: A method for predicting the onset of extrapyramidal symptoms (EPSs) induced by an antipsychotic-based treatment in a subject comprises i) determining the sequence of the rs1130214, rs456998, rs7211818 and rs1053639 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in a sample comprising genetic material from the subject, and ii) predicting the risk of the subject developing the EPSs based on the sequence of the SNPs.SELECTED DRAWING: None
