Abstract:
To provide a method of collecting toxic metals such as copper contained in wastewater by bioremediation through biosorption, and a method of biosynthesis of metallic nanomaterials.SOLUTION: A process for obtaining copper nanoparticles from Rhodotorula mucilaginosa comprises the following steps: isolating the yeast Rhodotorula mucilaginosa; determining copper tolerance of the isolated fungus; preparing a copper stock solution; adding the isolated fungus to a medium culture YEPD broth resulting in live biomass; subjecting the live biomass to the autoclave resulting in dead biomass; and determining retention of the copper nanoparticles in the live and dead biomass.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
