Abstract:
To provide an image forming method by which image roughening is suppressed and excellent stability of a treatment liquid is achieved in image formation using an ink composition containing a colorant and a pretreatment liquid containing a compound that aggregates the colorant in the ink composition.SOLUTION: The image forming method includes: a step of imparting a pretreatment liquid containing a compound that aggregates a colorant in an ink composition, and water-insoluble resin particles, the content Z of which with respect to the total mass of the pretreatment liquid satisfies expression (3) 10 mass%≤content Z≤20 mass%, to a recording medium having a surface where an arithmetic average roughness Rasatisfies expression (1) 2.6 μm≤Ra, so as to form a treatment liquid imparted surface having an arithmetic average roughness Rasatisfying expression (2) Ra≤2.6 μm; and a step of imparting an ink composition containing the colorant and water by an inkjet method to the treatment liquid imparted surface of the recording medium.SELECTED DRAWING: None
