To provide an automatic brake control method that enables a driver's own vehicle to be stopped in a position intended by the driver, when an automatic brake is brought into operation on the basis of an environment around the vehicle.SOLUTION: An automatic brake control method for decelerating a driver's own vehicle by bringing an automatic brake into operation on the basis of an environment around the driver's own vehicle includes: a step (S14) of making a sensor measure brain activity of the driver of the driver's own vehicle; steps (S14 and S15) of making a controller detect the driver's brake operation intention from information on the measured brain activity; and a step (S17) of suppressing the actuation of the automatic brake when detecting the brake operation intention before bringing the automatic brake into operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
