Abstract:
To inhibit performance of a scanning antenna having a liquid crystal panel from worsening by a temperature change.SOLUTION: A scanning antenna comprises: a TFT substrate 101; a slot substrate 201; a liquid crystal layer LC; and a seal part 73 provided in a non-transmission and reception region R2 and surrounding the liquid crystal layer LC. The TFT substrate 101 further has a first orientation layer 12 formed so as to be in contact with the liquid crystal layer LC at least in a transmission and reception region R1. The slot substrate 201 further has a second orientation layer 22 formed so as to be in contact with the liquid crystal layer LC at least in the transmission and reception region R1. The first orientation layer 12 and the second orientation layer 22 have hydrophilic surfaces Sw1 and Sw2 in the transmission and reception region R1, respectively. At least one of surfaces of the TFT substrate 101 and slot substrate 201 where they are in contact with the liquid crystal layer LC in the non-transmission and reception region R2 has a hydrophobic surface Sr2. When a temperature of the liquid crystal layer LC is 25°C, the liquid crystal layer LC has an air bubble BB on the hydrophobic surface Sr2 in the non-transmission and reception region R2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
