Abstract:
To perform switching of automatic operation level during following travel on the basis of a travel amount of a preceding vehicle according to peripheral environment such as road.SOLUTION: When following a preceding vehicle, hands-off operation level is changed to hands-on operation level to alert an operator if lateral movement of the preceding vehicle exceeds a threshold with respect to a reference position such as a lane center and so on. As the threshold, a low value is set according to a curve curvature, an adjacent lane or road shoulder, a lane mark and so on when determining that possibility of lane change or stopping is high, and a high value is set if not.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
