Title:
WLAN DESIGN FOR SUPPORTING OUTDOOR PROPAGATION CHANNEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2020109987
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
To propose W-LAN evolution for supporting an outdoor scenario, in which a normal cyclic prefix length of 800 nano-seconds is not an enough length to capture all multi-path components in such an outdoor scenario.SOLUTION: The present application proposes to use a CP longer than a normal CP of IEEE 802.11 and a negotiation protocol that selects a CP length. An access point transmits a cyclic prefix discovery frame to a station, and requests measurement (time domain channel estimation) and a feedback of a desirable guard period length. The AP transmits a special non-data packet long delay spread (NDP-L) frame to the STA in order to help measurement of delay spread. Channel shortening using beam forming reducing delay spread of an outdoor W-LAN signal is further included. Service data is transmitted in a wireless communication system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
