Abstract:
To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which formation of lithium dendrite at an end portion of a negative electrode active material layer is suppressed although a positive electrode active material containing manganese is used.SOLUTION: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material layer, a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material layer, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode active material layer faces the negative electrode active material layer. The area of the negative electrode active material layer is larger than the area of the main surface of the positive electrode active material layer. The negative electrode active material layer has a region facing the positive electrode active material layer, and a region which protrudes from the end portion of the positive electrode active material layer and does not face the positive electrode active material layer. The positive electrode active material layer includes a region A which is located at the end portion and faces a region adjacent to a region of the negative electrode active material layer which does not face the positive electrode active material layer, and a region B which is a region other than the region A. The positive electrode active material layer contains a positive electrode active material which is a lithium transition metal composite oxide. The positive electrode active material contained in the region A does not contain Mn, and the positive electrode active material contained in the region B contains Mn.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
