Abstract:
To provide a magnetic recording medium capable of implementing further high-density recording.SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium, the tape-like magnetic recording medium, comprises a substrate including polyester as a primary component, and a magnetic layer provided on the substrate, including a plurality of magnetic powders, and capable of recording a data signal. The arithmetic average roughness Ra of a surface of the magnetic layer is 2.5 nm or less, PSD to a spatial wavelength 5 μm is 2.5 μm or less, and the average thickness of the magnetic layer is 90 nm or less. The average aspect ratio of the magnetic powder is 1.0 or more and 3.0 or less, the coercive force in the vertical direction is 3000 Oe or less, a ratio of the coercive force in the longitudinal direction to the coercive force in the vertical direction is 0.8 or less, and the half bandwidth of an isolated waveform of a reproduction waveform of the data signal is 200 nm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
