Abstract:
To provide a cleaning device that can prevent an increase in size of the device and prevent an image defect caused by application of a foreign substance to a toner carrier, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A cleaning device 35 cleans an intermediate transfer belt 32. The cleaning device 35 includes a blade 63, an application roller 62, and a cover 66. The blade 63 is provided downstream of a secondary transfer unit 33 in a conveyance direction of the intermediate transfer belt 32 and has a predetermined size in a width direction. A regulation plate 61 is brought into contact with the application roller 62 to form a storage space 62a. The storage space 62a stores at least part of a toner recovered by the blade 63 from a center part area C of the intermediate transfer belt 32. The application roller 62 applies the toner in the storage space 62a to the intermediate transfer belt 32 on the upstream of the blade 63 in the conveyance direction. The cover 66 selectively collects the toner recovered by the blade 63 from end areas E of the intermediate transfer belt 32.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
