Abstract:
To provide a fixing device that maintains low slide resistance with a fixing member without impairing reliability and soaking properties of a soaking member to perform good fixing for a long period.SOLUTION: A fixing device comprises: an endless fixing member; a heat source that heats the fixing member; a pressure member that is provided outside the fixing member and is opposite to the fixing member; a nip forming member that is provided inside the fixing member and forms a nip part between the fixing member and the pressure member; and a soaking member that covers a surface of the nip forming member opposite to the fixing member and transfers heat in a longitudinal direction of the fixing member. The fixing member has at least a cylindrical substrate that is formed of metal and a slide layer that is formed of a heat-resistant resin on an inner peripheral surface of the substrate. The soaking member is formed of aluminum or an aluminum alloy and has an alumite layer on a surface opposite to an inner peripheral surface of the fixing member, and a plurality of micropores in the alumite layer are filled with a solid lubricant having a lower coefficient of friction than that of the alumite layer. The thickness of the alumite layer is smaller than the thickness of the slide layer of the fixing member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
