Abstract:
To determine a unit attached to an attachment section without adding a memory.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 101 comprises: an attachment section 180 to which a first unit 103a provided with a first fan 161a and a second unit 103b provided with a second fan 161b different from the first fan are attached mutually exclusively; a fan control section 160 that, when the first unit is attached to the attachment section, drives the first fan and receives a first rotation detection signal 181a from the first fan, and when the second unit is attached to the attachment section, drives the second fan and receives a second rotation detection signal 181b from the second fan; and a control section 150a that, based on the first rotation detection signal or the second rotation detection signal received by the fan control section, determines which of the first unit or the second unit is attached to the attachment section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
