Abstract:
To provide a surface-coated cutting tool in which a hard coating layer exhibits excellent chipping resistance and wear resistance in strong intermittent cutting of a high hardness alloy and so on.SOLUTION: In a surface-coated cutting tool, a hard coating layer of an alternating laminated structure of A layer comprising (Ti1-zAlz)N and B layer comprising (Cr1-x-yAlxMy)N is provided on a tool base body surface. A lattice constant a of a crystal grain of the whole hard coating layer having a cubic crystal structure satisfies 4.10≤a≤4.20, and an X ray diffraction peak intensity ratio of the whole hard coating layer satisfies 2.0≤I(200)/I(111)≤10.0. In a longitudinal section of a blade tip ridge line part, area ratios Sdp/Sc, Ssdp/Sc of a sum of areas of contamination droplets (Sdp) having a maximum length of 50 nm or more and a sum of areas of contamination droplets (Ssdp) having a maximum length of 10 nm or more and less than 50 nm with respect to an area (Sc) of the longitudinal section of the blade tip ridge line part are 0.100% or less, and 0.001% or more and 0.100% or less, respectively.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
