Abstract:
To provide devices for capturing and removing obstructions, such as clots, the vascular system.SOLUTION: An obstruction removal device 803 has one or more engaging members 802a-802d which can engage multiple portions of a clot. The one or more engaging members 802a-802d have a shape controller 808 for controlling a collapsed delivery state and an expanded deployed state, and includes a locking element which can mate with or latch onto the engaging members 802a-802d to make it possible to be locked to maintain its fixed configuration, and lock the engaging members 802a-802d in particular shape.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 22a
