Abstract:
PURPOSE:To operate an explosion-proof mechanism at relatively low pressure by forming a plurality of grooves in the bottom of a battery container, and specifying the width of the flat part in the bottom of the groove to given times the thickness of the thin part formed by the groove. CONSTITUTION:Cross-shaped grooves 3 are formed in the bottom of a battery container 1. The bottom 3a of the groove 3 is flat and the width W of a flat part 3a1 of the bottom 3a is 1.4-1.5 times the thickness t of a thin part 4. When the internal pressure of a battery is applied to the thin part 4 formed by the groove 3, the tensile force Pm caused by internal pressure P1 and the tensile force Pn caused by bending are applied to the edge 3a2 of the bottom 3a, and the edge 3a2 is finally broken. Since the groove is formed so as to easily break by increase in internal pressure, even if the thickness of the thin part 4 is somewhat thick, the explosion-proof mechanism is operated at relatively low pressure.
