Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of a home-use video camera to be that nearly equal to a 3-tube camera by providing plural sets of optical picture elements separating an incident light into plural colors and converting separately the separated light into an electric signal in plural planes. CONSTITUTION:A blue component (B) is reflected from an incident light 401 into a color separating optical system 420 by the 1st dichroic mirror 421 and green and red components are transmitted therethrough. The light(blue) reflected in the dichroic mirror 421 is reflected in a mirror 422. The red component is reflected from the light transmitting through the 1st dichroic mirror 421 is reflected in the 2nd dichroic mirror 423 and further reflected in the mirror 424. The light decomposed into the 3 primary colors by the color decomposition optical system 420 is converted into an electric signal by a photoelectric conversion section 430. Then the picture elements 400 are arranged in horizontal/ vertical directions to form one image pickup element as a whole to read out the 3 primary color signals of each picture element simultaneously and then to read out the signal of the adjacent picture elements succeedingly. The operation above is repeated to read out signals of one pattern.
