Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the decomposition or permeation efficiency of the title cell and to reduce the cost by distributing the gas contg. steam or a gaseous hydrogen isotope to the solid electrolytic cell of the shell-and-tube electrolytic cell by a specified distribution mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Plural solid electrolytic cells 3 are provided in a cell vessel 2 furnished with a cold-water or vacuum jacket 9, a distribution plate 4 pierced with distribution holes 11 over the whole surface as the mechanism for evenly distributing a gas, etc., to each solid electrolytic cell 3 is set between the upper part of the cell 3 and an inlet for a gas contg. steam or a gaseous hydrogen isotope, and a flange 1 provided with a gas supply port 6 and an inlet and outlet 7 for an electrolysis gas, etc., and a flange 1 provided with an inlet 9 and outlet 8 are fixed to form a shell-and-tube electrolytic cell. Steam, for example, is supplied from the gas supply port 6, evenly distributed to each cell 3 through the distribution hole 11 of the distribution plate 4, and electrolyzed into H2 and O2. For example, O2 is discharged from the inlet and outlet 7, and H2 from the inlet and outlet 8.
