Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve durability of a piston by partially binding aluminum-base powder sintered alloy consisting of mechanically alloyed powder to a high heat resistant demanding part in an aluminum alloy piston main body. CONSTITUTION: A sintered material 21 formed of aluminum-base powder sintered alloy consisting of mechanically alloyed powder is partially bound via a joint face 23 to a part demanding high heat resistance, for example, to an opening part end face of a direct injection type combustion chamber in a connected member 22 for an aluminum piston by means of a non-fusion welding method using no filler metal such as a friction pressing method or a limited fusion welding method using electron beams. In application of the friction welding method, a burr is extruded from both end parts 24 of the joint face 23 because of plastic flow, and at the same time, oxides, oils, or dust are eliminated from the both end parts 24. In this way, a life of the piston can be greatly prolonged.
