Abstract:
1,1-Dichloro-1-fluoroethane and 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluorobutane are separated from their liquid mixtures, such as liquid mixtures resulting from the hydrofluorination of 1,1,1-trichloroethane or vinylidene chloride. 1,1-Dichloro-1-fluoroethane and 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluorobutane are completely separated by distillation, by adding to the mixture thereof a liquid containing at least about 3 moles of hydrogen fluoride per mole of 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane in the mixture subject to separation.
