Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation of image quality and the occurrence of hunting by electrically detecting the aperture diameter of a stop means. CONSTITUTION:When the quantity of received light of a solid-state image pickup element 8 is equal to or smaller than a prescribed value, the shutter speed of an electronic shutter means 12 is kept at a prescribed value and the aperture diameter of a stop means 3 is varied in accordance with the quantity of received light of the solid-state image pickup element 8 to control the exposure; and when the quantity of received light of the solid-state image pickup element 8 is larger than the prescribed value, the aperture diameter of the stop means 3 is kept at a prescribed value and the shutter speed of the electronic shutter means 12 is varied in accordance with the quantity of received light of the solid-state image pickup element 8 to control the exposure. Thus, the aperture diameter of the stop means 3 is not reduced more than require at the time of photographing an object of high illuminance, and the degradation of image quality and the occurrence of hunting are prevented.
