Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prepare the subject compound in a high yield by charging a plurality of specific Mo catalysts having different activities, respectively, into a fixed bed multi-pipe type reactor so that the activities are increased from the inlet of a raw material gas toward the outlet when isobutylene is subjected to a gaseous phase catalytic oxidation using oxygen in the reactor. CONSTITUTION:When isobutylene, t-butanol, methyl t-butyl ether, etc., is subjected to a gaseous phase catalytic oxidation reaction using oxygen in a fixed bed multi-pipe type reactor to provide the subject substance, complex oxides (preferably a ring-like shape) of the equation (A is Ni, Co; B is alkali metal, thallium; C is alkaline earth metal; D is P, tellurium, Pb, etc.; E is Si, A, Ti, etc.) are employed as catalysts and the catalysts having different activities are charged to a plurality of reaction zones so that the activities are increased from the raw material inlet of the reactor toward the outlet thereof, the reaction zones being prepared by dividing the catalyst layer in each reaction pipe into two layers or more in the longitudinal direction. The activities of the catalyst can be changed by changing the kinds and amounts of constituting elements, thereby permitting to inhibit the storage of heat at the hot spot of the catalyst for providing the objective substance in a high yield.
