Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve a specific dielectric constant by adding a specified amount of Nd2O3 to a composition of main ingredients of PbTiO3 and PbZrO3-based ceramic material (PZT). CONSTITUTION:A composition of main ingredients of PZT is added with 0.1-7.0 weight percent of Nd2O3. Nd2O3 has, when added by an appropriate amount, the effect of lowering the Curie temperature and remarkably improves the specific dielectric constant at normal temperatures. The content of Nd2O3, when it is below 0.1 weight percent, produces little effect while above 7.0 weight percent, the peak value of the specific dielectric constant lowers. As a result, specifying the content within the said range, a composition which is excellent as a piezoelectric material of a high specific dielectric constant is obtained. Also, addition of an appropriate amount of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 as well as PbTiO3 and PbZrO3 further increases the specific dielectric constant.
