Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce a relative difference in image formation plane position due to a difference in wavelength by selecting prisms made of the best materials independently for respective wavelength ranges and constituting a color separation prism. CONSTITUTION:A part of a prism 1B where chromatic light in a short wavelength range among plural wavelength ranges passes consists of transparent member made of a material having a nu value larger than the nu value of the material of the prism 1B or/and a part of a prism 1R where color light in a long-wavelength range passes consists of a transparent member made of a material having a nu value smaller than the nu value of the material of the prism 1R so as to compensate the residual chromatic aberration of an objective 4 in addition to a trimming filter. Namely, glass blocks 1B-2, 1R-2, and 1G-2 are made of glass which has the best nu value for the compensation (deletion) of residual chromatic aberrations in the respective wavelength ranges. Consequently, the residual chromatic aberrations are compensated excellently in the respective wavelength ranges to prevent the image forming performance from degradation effectively.
