Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable the simple and speedy diagnosis of whether or not infected with Hantaan viruses by a reagent which contains sensitized insoluble grains obtained by sensitizing the Hataan viruses antigen to insoluble carrier grains. CONSTITUTION: Though a Hataan virus reagent can be prepared from the organs of infected animals, infected cultured cells, etc., it is preferable to be prepared from the brain of an infected suckling mouse or a rat in terms of yields, safety, etc. One of the methods to prepare from this brain of a suckling mouse or a rat is, e.g. as follows. The brain of a suckling mouse or a rat is inoculated and infected with the viruses. Tissue emulsion obtained from this infected brain tissue is centrifuged at a low temperature, the supernatant fluid is taken, and treated with ethyl alcohol and protamine sulfate. Then this is further centrifuged at high speed and the supernatant fluid is taken, the formalin left after inactivated with formalin is removed by dialysis, and the Hantaan virus antigen is obtained.
