Abstract:
PURPOSE:To realize the forming of an electrically/thermally stable superconductor of a chevrel phase compound having an excellent distortion characteristic of a wire rod by constituting so that at least one parts of both a stabilizing material and a sheath material can be brought into contact with a barrier material. CONSTITUTION:Mo, Pb, Mo2S3 powders are mixed as a constituting component of a PbMo6S8- related component as uniformly as possible according to a mole ratio of Pb:Mo2S3=1.2:0.8:2.6 so as to be inserted into a Nb tube of a barrier material 2 as an admixture 1 after it is formed by means of pressing, and a complex 5 can be obtained after that is put into a billet made of Cu-30% Ni as a sheath material 4 together with square bars of oxygen free copper as a stabilizing material 3. After sealing the billet of this complex 5 under vacuum by means of an electron beam welding machine, contraction processing on the cross section is carried out by means of extrusion processing under hydrostatic pressure and cold drawing processing, and by drawing the wire up to the diameter of 0.92mm, a superconductive wire rod of a PbMo6S8-related compound having the length of about 100m can be obtained. After the wire is wound round a ceramics bobbin having the diameter of 36mm and the height of 50mm by 12 turns in a solenoid form so as to carry out edge seal processing on both edges of this wire rod, heat treatment is carried out at a temperature of 1000 C for two hours in an argon atmosphere so that PbMo6S8-related compound can be formed.
