Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the image retrieval system which can efficiently retrieve images while suppressing image data for reduced images comparatively a little. CONSTITUTION:A reference image preparation part 3 prepares a reference image as the reduced image, sets first and second areas in each reference image and prepares partial reference image data for each area. An image development part 41 develops the reference images onto a frame memory 8 while partially overlapping them each other and stores the image data in the first area of each reference image in a RAM 9 for reference image. When an operator selects one reference image by using a mouse 11, an image data reloading part 42 reads the image data in the first area of the selected reference image from the RAM 9 for reference image, writes the data in the frame memory 8 and displays the entire reference image. The image reloading part 42 saves the image data in the second area of the reference image hidden by the selected reference image into an image save memory 7.
