Abstract:
PURPOSE:To maintain electron conductivity for long-term charge-discharge cycles by burying a part of grid shaped current collector made of lead or lead alloy in a conductive film or bonding it with a conductive adhesive. CONSTITUTION:An acid resistant hot-melt conductive film 2 is laminated on one side of a metal plate with which a set of container plates is formed, and a grid-shaped current collector 3 made of lead or lead alloy is arranged in a part of the current collector. A part of the current collector 3 is embedded into the conductive film or bonded with a conductive adhesive. A positive active material layer is formed on the exposed surface of the current collector of one container plate and a negative active material layer is formed on the exposed surface of the current collector of the other conductive plate. Two container plates are faced with a separator and a synthetic resin frame interposed so that each active material layer 4 is positioned inside, and the synthetic resin frame is heat-bonded to the conductive film layers for sealing. Even if the current collector which is in contact with the active material is corroded by repeating charge-discharge cycles and the contact of the current collector with the conductive film is deteriorated, the electron conductivity between the active material and the metal plate (terminal) is maintained. Damage to charge- discharge performance is prevented and a battery having long life is obtained.
