Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate background fogging and to enhance image sharpness by using a developer comprising a magnetic toner high in electric resistance and a magnetic carrier high in resistance in the specified mixing ratio. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic image bearing body 1 obtained by forming a photosensitive body on the circumference of a cylindrical drum is rotated in the direction of arrow A, and a magnetic roll 2 is set near the body 1, and a developing sleeve 3 is formed around the roll 2. The developer to be used for this apparatus is a mixture of the magnetic toner high in electric resistance and the magnetic carrier high in resistance. A toner to carrier ratio is <=50 by weight. This developer is stored in a developer container 5, and it is conveyed to the sleeve 3, and magnetically attracted to form a magnetic brush above the sleeve 3, thus permitting the magnetic brush to rub the body 1 by the action of an alternating electric field and to develop the electrostatic image.
