Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect overheat state of a brake drum from the ambient temperature thereof with high accuracy through a simple structure. CONSTITUTION:An annular notch 20 having substantially rectangular cross section is made in the inner peripheral surface 4d at the end of a brake drum 4 comprising a conductor. A permanent magnet 6 opposing to the inner peripheral surface 4d of the brake drum 4 and having alternating polarities in the circumferential direction is supported on a magnet supporting ring 8 and a projecting temperature sensor 25 is disposed, closely to the annular notch 20 in the brake drum 4, on a fixed frame 9 for guiding and supporting the magnet supporting ring 8. Since the temperature sensor 25 is covered, at the peripheral surface and the end part thereof, by the annular notch 20 of the brake drum 4, overheat state of the brake drum 4 can be detected accurately from the ambient temperature.
