Abstract:
Preparation of glyoxylic acid, carried out by oxidising an aqueous solution of glyoxal which has a pH lower than 1 with molecular oxygen in the presence of nitrous oxide as catalyst.
This process allows the initial glyoxal to be converted practically quantitatively into glyoxylic acid in a good yield.
