Abstract:
Method and apparatus for nondestructively and quantitatively detecting a characteristic value (e.g. joining strength) of a joined portion under test from the signal strength and its frequency of occurrence obtained from the actual joined portion under test by using an estimated joining strength H obtained according to a data frequency distribution showing the relation between "n" levels of signal strength found by irradiating the ultrasonic waves or radiant rays to a joined portion having a certain characteristic value, and the frequency of occurrence of the signal strength data, and also from an analytical curve showing the relation between said characteristic value and the estimated joining strength.
