Abstract:
PURPOSE:To efficiently decompose NOX to contrive reduction thereof and also to inhibit dilution of lubricating oil and to enhance lubricity of an engine main body by supplying hydrocarbon to the midway part of a suction system and using a catalyst activated by presence thereof. CONSTITUTION:An atomizer 6 is provided to the midway part of a suction system 3 and atomizes HC on the basis of a driving signal sent from an ECU 23. A catalytic converter 18 is equipped to the midway part of the passage 17 of exhaust gas and activated while keeping a hydrocarbon component as a reducing agent and decomposes NOX. The start timing of HC atomizing is regulated before an exhaust valve 15 provided to a combustion chamber 2 is closed. Thereby the whole HC supplied to the suction system 3 is almost blown through a combustion chamber 2 and led to a passage 17 of exhaust gas. Therefore, the catalytic converter 18 is more activated while keeping hydrocarbon as a reducing agent. NOX is decomposed into N2 and O2. Catalytic action for reducing NOX is performed. Further, since atomized HC is blown through the combustion chamber 2, it is inhibited that HC is mixed with lubricating oil and this is diluted.
