Abstract:
PURPOSE:To automatically form a dictionary by forming the appearance frequency distribution of pattern feature points by preparing many samples, normalizing respective frequency values of the distribution and registering the normalized values as membership values. CONSTITUTION:Many samples for a certain pattern inputted from a pattern input part 2 are prepared and the pattern feature points of respective samples are extracted. A mesh area is allocated to a plane area on which the pattern is to be plotted and a mesh area is set up also in a dictionary storage part 1 corresponding to the allocated mesh area. Then, the appearance frequency which is the number of generations of each feature point is found out to form the appearance frequency distribution corresponding to the mesh area, the distribution is normalized, the normalized value is used as a membership value, a distance corresponding to the degree of separation between the pattern to be recognized and the pattern to be collated is calculated by a distance computing part 5, and the proper number of patterns is selected in the ascending order to obtain a recognized result. Consequently, a recognition method with high recognition accuracy, a dictionary constituting method for reducing storage capacity and an automatic dictionary forming method can be obtained.
