Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with various types of data by securing a volume/file structure in a data recording area, dividing physically the data recording area into plural sectors and giving the serial numbers to these sectors. SOLUTION: A volume/file structure has a hierarchical structure and includes a volume/file structure area 70, a video manager 71, at least one or more video title sets 72 and other storage areas 73. The information is described to the manager 71 to manage the sets 72 and the means 71 consists of plural files 74 including a file #0 and its subsequent files. Every set 72 stores the compressed video data, the audio data, the secondary video data and the reproduction information on these data. The information that can use the sets 72 are recorded in the areas 73. In such a constitution, various types of data can be treated.
