Abstract:
An AB2-type Laves phase hydrogen storage alloy with a large effective hydrogen transfer capacity is disclosed. This alloy is represented by the general formula Tia,Zr1-aM2, wherein M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Mn, Cr, V, Fe, Co and Mo and 0 = a = 1, the alloy having a Laves phase of a crystal structure, and containing at least one nonmetallic element selected from the group consisting of B, C, N, S and Se, up to 2 atomic %. M may be partially substituted for by either Al, Zn, Cu, Nb or Ni.
