Abstract:
PURPOSE:To determine an equivalent particle size in which the inter-element sensitivity is corrected by providing means for determining the cubic root of output from a photoelectric converter, determining the ratio of a spherical criterion to a cubic root output for correction corresponding to the particle size of an object to be measured, and then multiplying the cubic root of an output from the object to be measured by the output ratio for correction. CONSTITUTION:When a filter 2 is loaded after capturing fine grains, a signal corresponding to the particle size is delivered from a photoelectric converter 20c on the post-stage of a spectrometer 20b to a cubic root amplifier 21. Output for each particle size can be specified based on the fact that the distribution of output from the amplifier 21 substantially corresponds to the particle size distribution attained by photographic measurement. The relationship between the particle size and output is then determined for each element of Fe, Al, Cu, etc., and stored as a correction coefficient. A filter 2 clogged with fine sample grains is then loaded and measurement is made simultaneously for four elements by varying the set wavelengths for four spectrometers 20b. The measurement is corrected by multiplying the output from each amplifier with the correction coefficient thus calculating the equivalent particle size of each element.
