Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively improve the quality of a color image by correcting adaptively each pixel value of the image based on a logarithm of the ratio set between the positive and negative images and normalizing the pixel value within an output range. SOLUTION: A positive image pixel value variate decision mechanism 56 receives both minimum luminance and chrominance of a local domain of the pixel value and calculates a positive image pixel value variate via a luminance domain analysis mechanism 54 and a chrominance domain analysis mechanism 55 respectively. A negative image pixel value variate decision mechanism 57 receives both maximum luminance and chrominance of a local domain of the pixel value and calculates a negative image pixel value variate via the mechanisms 54 and 55 respectively. A pixel value correction mechanism 58 calculates a logarithm of ratio set between the pixel value of both positive and negative images which are corrected by each image pixel value variate. Then a pixel value normalization mechanism 59 receives the corrected attentional pixel value from the mechanism 58 and normalizes it within an output range.
