Abstract:

PURPOSE:To offer a solid-state image pickup device made to prevent the saturation of the range of a current-voltage converting amplifier even at image pickup of a dark object. CONSTITUTION:Picture elements for image pickup 1-1,...1-n are selected in order by a horizontal scanning circuit 11 through selecting switches 4-1,...4-n and an output current Isig is read to a video line 6. At the same time, a dark output current Iref of a light shielding picture element 1-n+1 is read and is supplied to a current source 19 and a same current Io is pulled in from an output terminal connected to the video line 6. Thus, a signal current that the dark output current Iref (Io) is removed is inputted to a current-voltage converting amplifier and is voltage-converted and it is prevented that range is saturated even when an amplifier gain is defined large.
