Abstract:
The present invention relates to a multiple valve internal combustion engine comprising a cylinder head having at least three intake valves per cylinder and a staged induction system feeding the intake valve seat openings of the cylinder head through an intake passageway means to which charge formers are associated wherein said intake passageway means comprises a communicating area (148, 252) adjacent to at least a center valve seat (93) of a centrally disposed intake valve (101) wherein said communicating area (148, 252) allows a full amount of the charge fed to said centrally positioned intake valve (101) to be varied in response to the load conditions of the engine.
