Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the compact plate and to improve image transmission efficiency by providing an absorptive layer of light of a prescribed wavelength region in tight contact with the peripheral edge part at the end face of a part of optical fibers and the part near the axial direction of the peripheral edge part. CONSTITUTION:A material 5 which is soluble in prescribed chemicals or is made soluble by a prescribed treatment is previously disposed on the outer periphery of the optical fibers each consisting of a core 3 and a clad 4 to form a triple structure and after the optical fibers are integrated by welding the fibers to each other or by other means, the fibers are cut perpendicularly to the axial direction thereof to produce the fiber array plate (FAP) having a prescribed thickness. This FAP is then applied with a masking 10 in the parts exclusive of a part near one or both end faces thereof and is immersed into the prescribed chemical 11, by which the chemical soluble layer 5 is removed to a prescribed depth. If the chemical soluble layer 5 is transparent to visible light or the light of the prescribed wavelength region, a material 6 which absorbs such light is packed to the removed parts and is cured. The compact reading system having the high image transmission efficiency is obtd. in this way.
