Abstract:
PURPOSE:To permit the initial rigidity of a block to be kept up to a running end in the above-mentioned tire for a snow or ice covered road by forming a sipe between opposite sides along a tread cross direction and setting the length of a cross path along a groove bottom to be longer than that in a block surface. CONSTITUTION:A land portion 2 which is formed by partitioning a tread with a groove portion 1 is divided with a sipe (S) which is formed along a tread cross direction to form a block 3. The length (l) of the cross path of the sipe (S) along a groove bottom S1 is set to be longer than the length l1 of the cross path of the sipe (S) in the surface of the block 3. Such constitution permits thawed-water discharging ability to be improved on an iced road and initial rigidity to be maintained up to a running end, because the length of the cross path is gradually increased with tread wear to offset the increase of block rigidity with the wear.
